Zeno Mountain Farm – A Friendship Community Where Everyone Matters!
Everyone needs a place where they belong... and that place is Zeno Mountain Farm in VT! Zeno Farm was created in 2008 by Will and Vanessa Halby, and Peter and Ila Halby, who look to create an inclusive, creative community for all through its summer camp programs.
"The main purpose of Zeno is to create great art and to celebrate diversity in community," Will told us.
At Zeno Mountain they believe that the most important thing in the whole world is friendship, community, and the knowledge that we matter to each other.
"When I came here they showed me my room and the dining hall and within a matter of seconds, it felt like home," said first time camper AJ Murray.
The community is built around groups completing different projects that range from art, film, theatre, sports, music and adventure-based activity. What makes Zeno special is that their camps combine special needs and non-special needs members. Together, the community must embrace their difference and diversity to fulfill their tasks and create movies and plays. It is opening up the worlds and minds of its campers due to its emphasis on inclusion and mutual understanding.
"I love coming here every summer," said Hannah Galivan. "It gives me the opportunity to come here and be myself, no matter what."
