This Trader Joe's Proposal Is One Of The Sweetest Things Ever

There are creative proposals, and then there's this unbelievably sweet, colorful, and unique request for a hand in marriage that was literally inspired by a dream.

Melanie Diaz and Sidd Sinha had been dating for a while, and had talked about marriage frequently enough that both halves of the couple figured that Sidd was planning a proposal for sometime in the near future. But Sidd wanted the moment to still feel surprising and spontaneous. So when Melanie told him that she had had a dream that he proposed to her in a Trader Joe's (her favorite store), Sidd's idea was born.

"Because that element of the surprise wasn't there, I wanted to make it special," Sidd remembers.

Working with the Trader Joe's on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Sidd planned a totally dedicated "tour" of the aisles that would culminate in his proposal. The retailer even created signs in its signature creative style to help Melanie navigate the tour.
Looking back, Melanie says, "I had a feeling something was going on with how the signs were all applying to me and to our relationship."

And when the couple reached a sampling station offering chocolate-covered almonds—their favorite treat—Melanie knew she had to take a sample. She picked up one almond, and saw the engagement ring below it in the cup!

Melanie, unsurprisingly, said yes. And she summed the whole thing up when she said: "It was a dream come true."
