Teacher Walks 25 Miles To Support The Military
After finding out about the Chattanooga recruiter shootings, David Bounds, a teacher in Little Axe Oklahoma, walked 25 miles with a U.S. Marine Corps flag to
show his support for those serving in the military.
“I decided somebody has to stand up for our guys and let them know the people of this country do support them,” Bounds said.
Even with heat in the triple digits and arthritis, nothing could stop Bounds from completing his walk.
“I've got arthritis in my left ankle,” Bounds explained. “It's a little tough at times, but I just have to keep telling myself, ‘These Marines push through, that's what I've got to do.’”
Bounds has been teaching at Little Axe for 33 years and has pictures of his former students who went to join to military on the wall of his classroom.
“I love the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces because I know I owe my freedom to them,” Bounds said.
