Son Holds A Benefit Concert For His Mother Battling ALS

Hundreds of friends from her hometown community of New Canaan, CT came out to hear Ann Depuy's son Nick and his band perform, which included a song dedicated to his mother's fight against ALS.

Ann was a vital part of the community, touching all with her warmth, generosity, and compassion before she succumbed to this debilitating disease five years ago. She was the head of the local Welcome Wagon, a Deacon at their church and an exceptional part time employee at the local library. Her zest for life, sports, books, and cooking was an inspiration to all. She gave so much and now the community wants to give back.

This benefit concert was the culmination of generosity from all corners of town: Webster Bank underwrote the event at Summer Theatre of New Canaan, local sponsors Baldanza Natural Market & Cafe, and New Canaan Wine Merchants donated food & drink and the staff from the theater all donated their time for this exceptional woman.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, a debilitating nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function, keeps taking from Ann and she now requires full time round the clock care to keep her at home with her loving family. This is beyond what her husband Warner, Nick and daughter Michaela can provide. The medical costs of $10,000 - $12,000 per month is taking its toll financially so Nick, an accomplished musician and song writer, gathered his band (including Michaela) to perform for his mother at this benefit concert.

"My mom was always really encouraging of me in whatever creative endeavors that I took on. There are so many people that love my mom, know my family, and want to help my family and I'm grateful for that," Nick says.

It was a magnificent night listening to songs from his first album "Right On Time" and his newly released album "Don't Be Sorry." Spending time with a community full of love for one of their own gives wonderful meaning to Pay It Forward.

Nick's new album "Don't Be Sorry" is out! All of the proceeds from sale of CDs, downloads and streaming are going towards his mom Ann's medical care needs.
The CD, for those of us that like to hold music in our hands, is $20 including shipping. To purchase, send return address and checks made payable to:

"I regret to say that my lovely Annie left us April 5, peacefully after a long 5 year battle with ALS that she fought every day with courage and grace, more than I could have ever displayed.

She awoke that morning, smiling and ready for another day, but she was taken suddenly while preparations were being made for her morning routine.

Saying that I am and our family is lost without her is an understatement, but we will look to her for courage and purpose to move forward.

I want to thank everyone that has done so much to help me keep Ann well cared for at home. For those who would still want to know what they might be able to do, rather than flowers, continued contributions through GoFundMe are welcome as, unfortunately, the long struggle with ALS has left my family with significant debt that needs to be reduced.

From the bottom of my and our entire family's hearts, thank you all so very, very much."

- Warner Depuy.
