These Artists Are Turning Scars Of Pain Into Works Of Art

Tattoo artist, Whitney Develle was heartbroken when she saw the words "Don't Eat" scarred on the arm of her friend and she insisted on doing something to help.


She could cover up a bad tattoo, why couldn't she cover a self-harm scar? She did just that. She used her friend as a test subject and put the finished product on Instagram. The reaction was so overwhelming that "The Scars Project" was born. Now she promotes free tattoo cover ups for those with self-harm scars.

"I want them to feel beautiful and to be able to leave the past behind them as they venture on a more positive journey," says Develle.

P.Ink runs a similar project for Breast Cancer Survivors by covering their Mastectomy scars. To find out more information about their project, watch the video below.

Dance Gave Her Love, a Community, and an Identity
