Shelter Pups Get a Free Ride to Forever Homes, Thanks to This Guy
Greg Mahle says that his first dog helped him become a better person. And he doesn't want the simple factor of distance to prevent other young people from adopting the pets who might turn out to be their best friends. So every week, Greg hits the road. He drives his truck thousands of miles North and South across the states, picking up dogs who are up for adoption and bringing them to the families who will offer them forever homes.
"I got into this because I love what I do. The money end isn't important to me," Greg says of his weekly journeys that start in the Midwest, take him into the South where there is an abundance of shelter dogs, and then see him head into New England which is where he drops the pups off.
Of the lucky dogs he brings to excited families, Greg says: "A short while ago they were someone else's trash, and now they're someone's love."
