Quarterback Keeps Promise To Friend With Down Syndrome By Taking Her To Prom

Ben Moser, quarterback of the Susquehanna High School Football team in Harrisburg, PA, fulfilled a promise he made to his friend Mary Lapkowicz back in fourth grade.

After Ben had been to his cousin's prom walk as a child, he asked his mom if kids like Mary, who have Down Syndrome, ever go to prom. She told him yes, but usually only of someone asks them. Ben told his mother that when he was old enough he would take Mary to prom.

Ben and Mary went to the same school until sixth grade when Mary moved to the Central Dauphin school district. Despite the schools' rival football teams, Ben never forgot the promise he made in fourth grade.

Ben bought balloons, wrote "prom" on them, and presented them to Mary. Mary was both surprised and excited and, of course, said yes.

Mary was very excited and went to prom with Ben on May 8, 2015 in a beautiful lavender dress.
