Pokemon Go Helps Cancer Patient Exercise & Have Fun
Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm! This interactive app invites people to get active and search for Pokemon in their community.
Sixty-year-old Lisa Freedman from Toronto, Canada has made it part of her breast cancer treatment; as she has to walk at least 20 minutes a day to help recover from radiation. Before Pokemon Go, her walks were really boring and not something she looked forward to. Now, she actually has fun!
"For the last couple of days I've been happily walking around the neighbourhood, finding Pokemon," Freedman said."This way I'm not thinking about the cancer and, you know, it's fun." It's refreshing to hear about a phone app that actually promotes fitness. Since a lot of kids, especially, are so involved on their phones or tablets, it's not often they even go outside anymore. But with Pokemon Go, that has changed. Now even cancer patients can get involved and have something to take their mind of being sick for a while!
