People: We're Made for Each Other
People were made for one another. No, not necessarily in a romantic way - or let's just say not always! In a romantic way. But we do need each other. Humans are social beings, programmed to seek interaction with others. This central detail ends up being the biggest contributor of making you who you are.
Being human is a unique experience, and much of that experience comes from the things that we share with one another. We share stories, interests, and even our lives. After all, you are the product of the people that you meet and the experiences that you collect over a lifetime.
The benefits of surrounding yourself with people are endless. Being social makes us healthier, as we can pick up behaviors that are better for us. It's more fun to go to the gym when you've got a buddy! People with shared interests will support and motivate one another, each pushing the other to greater heights. Perhaps the greatest benefit of all is the feeling of being understood. Conversely, surrounding yourself with people who are different than you can expose you to new things- new foods, music, hobbies, etc.
In today's divisive society, it's important to remember the value of community. People are designed to be together; being united makes us happier and healthier. So, get out there and visit a family member or friend or join some community organization you've been thinking about but afraid to try. Who knows, maybe it is time to turn a stranger into a friend.
