Noble College President Gives $200K Bonus To Charity
Would you give up $200,000? For University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono is wasn't even a question. He rejected his annual bonus and asked that the money go to charity and scholarships instead. What a guy!
This isn't his first year doing so, either. Since becoming president in 2012 he has not accepted his yearly bonus. This year his bonus will be divided between 14 organizations and scholarships. They will include the university’s LGBTQ center, a local STEM high school, and GEN-1 House, a program for first-generation college students.
"This may sound crazy, but it's hard for us when someone turns down a raise," University Board President Tom Humes said. "But we've learned that the way to satisfy President Ono is to give him the ability to help others.”
