Leading Drug Company Will End Animal Testing On Chimps
Merck & Co., one of the world's foremost drug companies, is putting an end to its practice of testing products on chimpanzees. In a statement released on their website, Merck says it has "voluntarily made the decision to not use chimpanzees in biomedical research in the foreseeable future or indirectly fund their use in studies by external research partners." Merck's decision to end this kind of testing makes them the largest pharmaceutical company to do so.
Good thing too, since a division of the company proudly boasts efforts and products that ensure animal health.
