Identical 93-Year-Old Twins Celebrate 75 Years Of Being Nuns
The Lastrapes sisters recently celebrated 75 years of being nuns. Sisters Canice and Canisius Lastrapes are two nuns who have been serving their community and those around them in Louisiana.
75 family members came from around the country to join in the celebration of these two women.
“They’ve just been an enormous inspiration to so many people over the years,” said Jude Lastrapes, a great-nephew of the two nuns who came from New York City to take part in the milestone.
The two sisters have no regrets, but if they did, it would be time.
“If I have one regret, it’s that it’s gone by so fast,” said Sister Canice. “That’s what happens when you love what you do. It has seemed like 75 days. When you don’t like what you’re doing, times does not seem to move at all.”
The two recently retired and moved into the order’s nursing home just across the highway.
So what is the secret to their long lives and happiness?
“Staying active,” Sister Canice said. “That’s the key to it all. Staying active.”
