Homeless Veteran Gave Up Housing For Single Mom & Kids
Alicia Watkins has been through more than one person should. The retired Air Force staff sergeant served in Iraq and Afghanistan. She survived the 9/11 attack at the Pentagon and went on to continue protecting our country. All of this didn't break her. Her hardest battle was finding herself homeless after retiring from the military.
Alicia lived in her car which she rented for $10.00 a day, showered in public airports or hotels and found necessities where she could. She was offered a room but selflessly gave it up to a single mom and her kids. "It might have been different had I not seen the children and the babies. So, I decided to be on the street and put them in the room," Watkins told Oprah. "Why wouldn't I?"
Since this happened, she has found her way. She is living with a friend, taking care of her health and got into college. She wants to help other veterans so she enrolled in Harvard to start her future. She is also now engaged and looks happier than ever. We are so thankful for her service and how things turned out.
