Facebook Gives Free WiFi Access To North Carolina Students
What good is a laptop if you don't have access to the Internet? That's what Facebook learned when the Rutherford County School District in the town of Forest City, North Carolina gave away free laptops to students only to discover that a large number of them had no Internet service at home.
So Facebook started a pilot program with the school district to provide free WiFi access to the students. The company said it hopes the program will be successful so that it can expand the program to cover more students.
