Children's Hospital Staff Wear Tutus To Make Patients Laugh
Being sick is never fun. Depending on your sickness, it can be pretty scary too.
The patients at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital have a wide range of illnesses. These young patients often get scared or sad facing their sickness and recovery processes. But the staff at the hospital came up with a way to help add some smiles and laughs to their day.
In an effort to add a 'giggle factor' to their uniforms, the staff started wearing tutus! On 'Tutu Tuesdays' more than 150 employees – from doctors to administrators – proudly wear the colorful accessory! They do it because laughing can help patients become less scared or sad in their current situation. It all started when one staff member wore a tutu over his scrubs to cheer up a boy heading into surgery. Since then, tutus have been spreading joy around the hospital!
