My Dog Saved My Life Thanks To The Mr. Mo Project
** To celebrate National Hug Your Day, OGTV shares this heartwarming story about Macy, a senior bull dog, who helped her owner cope with and overcome depression. **
Vicky Neville and her tender hearted bull dogs did not always have it easy. After years of heartache and enduring the loss of three bull dogs, recovering from divorce and witnessing the passing of her sister and soulmate, Vicky was admitted into inpatient care for her chronic depression.
While in recovery, she heard about the Mr. Mo Project, a non profit organization that finds loving homes for senior dogs. On Easter Sunday, Mr. Mo Project founders, Chris and Mariesa Hughes showed up at Vicky's house with Macy, a senior bull dog. Vicky and Macy connected instantly and before Vicky knew it, her life began to change.

She found herself living life again, laughing, gardening, and rediscovering the parts of her day that made her truly happy, all with her new companion by her side. We all know that shelter dogs need our love, but sometimes it's the unconditional love from a dog that can make all the difference to its owner.

Learn more about the Mr. Mo Project and the work they're doing with senior dogs at: http://www.mrmoproject.com/

To see more heartwarming OnlyGood TV PETS videos, visit us at: http://bit.ly/OnlyGoodTVYTPETS

Welcome to OnlyGood.tv! - It's a Positivity Movement.

We at OnlyGood TV believe that positivity will change lives for the better. How the NBA’s Cleveland Cavs Changed the Game for Their Autistic Fans
** In recognition of International ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) Day, OGTV is sharing a Good Business story about how the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers learned how to be inclusive to people with autism. **
The squeak of sneakers, the pounding of the ball on the hardwood floor, flashing lights, videos and messages on the scoreboard, dancers, PA Announcements, the roar of the crowd…. A professional basketball gamer is frantic, loud, and a lot to take in all at once for anyone. But it can also be overwhelming, especially if you have the sensory issues associated with autism.

Jeff and Amy Belles thought long and hard about whether it would be a good idea to take their son Carson, who is autistic, to a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game at Quicken Loans Arena. Then the "Q Center" offered an Autism Awareness Night, and they thought this would be the perfect opportunity for him to see a game.

Much to their dismay, the experience was not good one. Carson was mistreated by Q Center Staff, taking a personal item from him as he tried to make his way through security upon. Jeff and Amy were told to "get their son under control," and were stunned by the lack of sensitivity. The experience was so traumatic that they decided to take to twitter to explain the mistreatment they received. When hearing their story, senior vice president of facility operations, Antony Bonovita, knew something had to be done. He reached out to Amy and Jeff who urged him to train his staff on what it means to be inclusive to people with autism.

Anthony, having a son of his own with autism, took their feedback to heart. "It was not enough just to say we will train people," he explained. "We could institute a sensory program, we could build a sensory room. We can do more because it's the right thing to do." He engaged with Kulture City, a nonprofit based in Birmingham, Alabama, that had already developed sensory inclusion training and brought it into the "Q". He also included Jeff and Amy to help create the program and take it to another level.

See how Sensory Rooms and other materials now available at The Q have made it possible for those with autism, PTSD, and other sensory conditions to enjoy an experience in their facility. "Who doesn't want to be in a room with Bubble Walls and art you can squeeze?" Antony raves. "It's a great place to come and chill out! My son, your child, gets to come to a game now. I get to go home and smile about that."

Get more information about Autism Spectrum Disorder at: https://www.autismspeaks.org/

Learn more about Kulture City at: https://www.kulturecity.org/

To see more OnlyGood GOOD BUSINESS videos, visit us at: https://bit.ly/GoodBusinessOGTV

Welcome to OnlyGood.tv! - It's a Positivity Movement.

We at OnlyGood TV believe that positivity will change lives for the better. Mom and Daughter Start Unique Business for Dog Lovers - dogly.com
Need to hear a "Good Story"? Here's one about a Mom and Daughter who started a business driven by their love of dogs for all of those who also love dogs!
One Christmas Eve, Jane Turner wrote a story called "The Dog Who Went To Main Street" for her daughter, Cory. It was based on a true story about the family's wandering black lab, Zona, and their quest to find their dog. Because it was such a hit with their family, someone had recommended she try and publish it as a children's book! It was a hit.

Jane and Cory always felt like their dogs were their family, so publishing the book was a natural extension of their mutual love and bond. Afterward, they started seeing how many fellow dog lovers were out there, just like them. They also discovered that there were many fresh, independent brands with great products that nobody knew about. Already frustrated with the lower quality and lack of personalized products from big box stores, Jane and Cory decided to do something about it.

They went into business together and started dogly.com, an online market place for dog lovers. They began to discover exceptional products that were dog-worthy, made with honest materials, some handmade and some high tech. The service they felt they could provide was to be the one voice that could say what was best for your dog. Cory remembers how quality became the centerpiece of their business. "When you come to dogly, that it's only the best products. It's all products that we've tested with our own dogs and they love them!"

Jane and Cory also thought to add a charitable twist to their efforts. Being longtime owners of rescued dogs, they created a generous guideline for all of their partners - every small company who comes on board must give a portion of their sales from dogly.com to the dog shelter of the customer's choice. This gives everyone the ability to support rescues and shelters across the country with each purchase and allows the customer to pick which shelter their money goes to, something quite unique.

There are hundreds of shelters listed on dogly.com and so far the company has given back over $100,000. Not only is money given to shelters, but all the dogs shown on dogly.com are dogs who are up for adoption from shelters, or have been recently adopted.

While dogly.com started with their own dogs, it quickly turned into a place where dogs are loved like crazy and those looking to be loved like crazy can find a home. "The hope for all of these dogs," Cory reminds us, "is that they find homes that they deserve and they never have to worry about living on the street again."

To learn more, visit them at: https://dogly.com/

To see more OnlyGood TV PETS videos, visit us at: http://bit.ly/OnlyGoodTVYTPETS

This Farm Helps Kids and Animals Heal Each Other
** April is Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals Month and this OGTV story shows how putting together rescue animals and at-risk kids in a supportive environment can have unexpected benefits for both groups. **
Abuse leaves a scar – sometimes visible, more frequently hidden. Neglect is an unrelenting force that crushes the spirit. The Forget Me Not Farm is a place where a unique group of people and animals work together to help address both of these critical issues and demonstrate the wonders that can be accomplished by an approach based on compassion.

Since its inception in 1992, Forget Me Not Farm has helped thousands of at-risk children and youth break the cycle of abuse. A program of the Sonoma Humane Society, the Farm offers animal-assisted and horticultural therapeutic activities that provide a haven for children, plants and animals to bond, learn, and heal with one another. The farm was founded by Carol Rathman who saw it as a model for children exposed to violence to engage with animals who have histories of abuse and neglect.

"Mom started it as an intervention for child abuse," explained Carol's son Dan, the Director of the farm. "She realized that there was a connection between the cycle of violence that happens with people who abuse animals, and the cycle of violence that gets perpetuated against humans." The idea was to teach children to be compassionate and caring through working with animals who have also traveled a difficult path.

Odessa Gunn, a former professional cyclist and now a Board Vice President, has been volunteering at the farm for over a decade. Her mission in life is to help animals and the Forget Me Not Farm supports her passion because all of the animals that live there have been rescued. Their stories can often be as painful as the ones of the children who visit.

Odessa feels that bringing the farm animals and children together in a comfortable and caring environment is a key to success. The farm works with 500 to 800 kids a year, mostly from group homes, and more often than not they have been shown very little warmth and compassion in their short lives. But grooming and tending to the animals seems to open up these kids and teaches them about compassion and love. These children and animals were all rescued from various bad situations—and they end up "rescuing" each other as well.

"I believe compassion is indeed something that needs to be taught," Odessa says. "If you have any type of influence on any child, just lead by example, show compassion for all living creatures. Even the bugs!"

Find out more about their great work at: https://forgetmenotfarm.org/

Learn more about the Humane Society at: https://humanesocietysoco.org/

To see more OnlyGood TV PETS videos, visit us at: http://bit.ly/OnlyGoodTVYTPETS

Welcome to OnlyGood.tv! - It's a Positivity Movement.

We at OnlyGood TV believe that positivity will change lives for the better. 71-Year-Old Man Walks Thousands Of Miles To Promote Peace
** On this World Health Day, OGTV recognizes a man who puts one foot in front of the other, typically for hundreds of miles, to stimulate support for a more healthy and peaceful world. **
Most of us want to make the world a better place. Not all of have actually done something about it—but a grandfather named Al has, many times over.

Al considers it his mission to spread the message of "praying for peace." What began as an idea, of wanting people to focus on peace in their prayers, has turned into a public campaign that has reached tens of thousands of people. And it all started with a walk.

"In 2008, I walked from Yankees Stadium to Chicago. It's a little over 950 miles," Al recalls of his first Pray 4 Peace Walk. During his pilgrimage, Al handed out cards depicting a group of uniformed soldiers huddled together, with the words "They pray for peace. Will you?" printed on them. Al estimates that he has given out about 40,000 of the cards.

Following his long 2008 walk, Al saw his cause gain media attention, and he has subsequently done several more days-long Pray 4 Peace Walks. Most of the walks begin or end in New York City, and relate to Al's personal connection to the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers. The mother of Al's children could have died in the attacks; she was late to work, at the WTC, on September 11, 2001. Most recently, Al walked from Ground Zero to Boston in 2014, a trip of more than 240 miles.

Watch our original video to hear Al explain his efforts to make a difference.

This OnlyGood TV Original was produced by Daniel Salazar III.

Learn more at: http://prayforpeacewalk.org/

To see more OnlyGood TV GOOD INSPIRATION videos, visit us at: https://bit.ly/GoodInspirationOGTV

Welcome to OnlyGood.tv! - It's a Positivity Movement.

We at OnlyGood TV believe that positivity will change lives for the better. When Music and Cultural Heritage Combine, You Get INTEMPO
In a sun-filled church in Stamford, Connecticut, a small group of young students sit with their musical instruments. Among them are many instruments you'd expect to see in a classroom—like violins and guitars—and also several that you may have never seen before, like the South American Charango and a Caribbean steel drum. That would give you your first hint that you're not looking at a standard music class. This is an INTEMPO class.

INTEMPO is a Stamford, CT-based non-profit arts organization that teaches students in a few nearby towns not only musicianship, but also multicultural awareness and pride in their diverse backgrounds. Part of that is accomplished by including native instruments like the Charango and the steel drum.

Founded in 2011 by violinist and educator Angelica Durrell, INTEMPO envisions a new word of musical opportunity and engagement among people of all ages. In this new world, the audience at a performance can see themselves reflected in the musicians and hear their heritage celebrated in the songs being performed.

"Cultural identity creates a sense of security and empowerment. So we really focus on that with our kids, parents, and partners," says Angelica, talking about INTEMPO.

She hopes that INTEMPO will help make classical music of all kinds relevant to a variety of communities. The organization brings together students from 30 different schools in Norwalk CT, Stamford CT, and Port Chester NY, who can participate in lessons centered on instruments or even in INTEMPO's multi-language choir.

"I'm a violinist by training.. but had it never been for the moment that I identified there was a huge gap missing in my community and that I could do so much more for these kids and families... this would have never happened," Angelica recalls of when she made the switch from musician to educator and organizer.

Angelica attended Norwalk High School in Norwalk, graduating in 2007. She participated in orchestra, the Norwalk Youth Symphony, and the Chamber Music Institute for Young Musicians in Stamford, where she has been a faculty member for the last four summers. And music runs in her family:

"I am a sixth-generation musician from Ecuador on my mom's side, and a fourth-generation musician on my adoptive father's side."

Through the music scene in Norwalk, and specifically the Youth Symphony, Angelica met Dr. Lisa Pento, a long-serving member of the Youth Symphony's Board of Directors who was for 3 years the Chairwoman of the Board. Lisa spearheaded a number of initiatives during her tenure at NYS, including rebranding of the organization, altruistic campaigns, and international tours. Given their overlapping interests, it's no wonder that Angelica and Lisa decided to work together. The two formed a partnership between the NYS and INTEMPO, and Lisa joined INTEMPO's Board of Directors in 2012.

Since its founding, INTEMPO has expanded far beyond its initial partnerships. It reaches more than 120 students today, and comprises 5 different programming areas:

• Native Instrument Academy
• Annual Gala and Fundraiser Concert
• International Women's Day Concert
• INTEMPO Ensemble
• International Composition Partnership

Through these 5 offerings, INTEMPO is changing the landscape of music and boosting confidence in the kids and families involved!
To learn more about INTEMPO, visit them at: https://intempo.org/

Find out more about the Norwalk Youth Symphony at: https://www.norwalkyouthsymphony.org/

This Only Good TV original video was produced by Dani Guitelman, shot by Johnny Perez, and edited by Matt Binetti.

Welcome to OnlyGood.tv!
