American Pharoah's Jockey Plans To Donate Triple Crown Winnings
Champion Jockey, Victor Espinoza, and horse, American Pharoah, recently won the Triple Crown, a major accomplishment and victory. After earning approximately $80,000 from the win, Espinoza plans to donate his winnings to City of Hope, a cancer research and treatment center.
"I won the Triple Crown right now but I don't make any money because I'm donating all the money to the City of Hope," Espinoza said.
Espinoza has visited City of Hope before and said that it's a emotional experience.
"The kids 6 years old, 10 years old, it's just heartbreaking," Espinoza said. "They have no idea what they're missing in life. But believe it or not, they're the happiest people. When I went to visit them twice, it was amazing to see them, how happy they were."
American Pharoah's trainer Bob Baffert, and his wife, Jill, also plan on donating their winnings to several charities.
