American College of Rheumatology
Courageous patients like Shanelle Gabriel help the Simple Tasks campaign and The Lupus
Initiative by sharing personal stories of living and thriving with a rheumatic disease. Both
campaigns are managed by the American College of Rheumatology but have separate goals.
The Simple Tasks campaign aims to educate lawmakers about the importance of rheumatology,
the more than seven million Americans fighting the devastating effects of rheumatic diseases
and to create favorable public policy that benefits rheumatology patients.
The Lupus Initiative is national education program designed to reduce health disparities
experienced by patients with lupus. The Lupus Initiative develops educational resources for
students and practitioners of medicine to support the diagnosis, treatment and lupus disease
