8 Wonderful Women to Celebrate This International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day! Women are oftentimes underappreciated, but they shouldn't be. So, in honor of International Women's Day, we have put together these videos of inspiration, encouragement, and empowerment to applaud the incredible women who deserve a little extra appreciation today!


1) Press for Progress

The theme for this year's International Women's Day is "Pressing for Progress." In this video, women share their advice and tips on how to move forward in the professional world. They also share a bit of their experiences and what advice they were offered in their past. These women want to see others take advantage of the opportunities that they have to make a change in the world. Watch to see what you can do to help.

2) The Time is Now

International Women's Day is not only a day to celebrate women, but it can also serve as a chance you educate about women's health. Feel Your Boobies Foundation's mission is to inform women how to detect and identify breast cancer in time. Check out the video to see the unexpected way this foundation gets its message out.

4) Girl Love

Lily Singh (AKA Superwoman) is a well-known YouTube personality. In her channel, IISuperwomanII, she makes funny but often inspiring and empowering videos, such as this one. She and her friends want to end "girl on girl hate" by complimenting and empowering other women that we all admire. Watch to see how you can help continue their cause.

5) Warrior Women

These inspiring women's lives have made them leaders. After going through tough times themselves, they took it upon themselves to help others going through similar situations. Annette Ross, Karen Shayne, and Heidi Johnson all found a way to bring awareness to different topics. They help others feel supported and give them hope to continue on in life.

WWII Vet Runs Cross Country to Save His D-Day Ship

Ernie Andrus, now in his 90's, is running cross-country to raise money in order to put the LST 325, the ship he served on in the Navy during WWII, back on the beach in Normandy where it supported the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944.

This LST 325 is the only LST ship left (out of 1,051 made) that has been fully restored and still operational. Plans were initially made for a D-Day memorial service in 2014 for the ship, but it was canceled because of a shortage of finances. This inspired Ernie to start a project called, Coast2Coast Runs to raise money to honor his old ship.
