24-Year-Old CEO Empowers Homeless Women By Giving Them Jobs
GAP and their program One Stitch Closer are dedicated to empowering women and then in return they empower the world. One of these women is Veronica Scott, 24 year old founder and CEO of The Empowerment Plan. Her mission started when she was tasked with an assignment in college to design something to fill actual needs. She came up with a jacket that also serves as a sleeping bag. She took to the streets and got feedback from actual homeless people who needed these coats. One woman opened Veronica's eyes when she told her 'We don't need coats, we need jobs.' That one statement changed Veronica's whole mission. She went on to not only make these coats - but to employ only homeless people who needed jobs to get off the streets. She is giving them a chance to empower themselves. With her support through The Empowerment Plan the homeless are getting off the street and rebuilding their lives.
