10 Ways to Make Your Bedroom a Tranquil Retreat
Your bedroom is supposed to be somewhere you retreat to. After the craziness of the day with work, errands, and traffic, laying down in your bed at night should be meditative, relaxing and rewarding. Many of us have made our bedroom a second office; using our bed as a place to work on our laptop, answer emails or talk on the phone. Well, that has to stop. For your health and well being, you should make your bedroom the most tranquil and relaxing place you can. Here are 10 ways to make your sleep spot a beautiful sanctuary.
1. Ban electronics. Bye, bye smartphone! This also means TV. If you need to watch your show, do it in the living room. The light from electronics disrupts your body's production of melatonin which is essential for sleep.
2. Keep your bedroom dark. Any light from outside can disrupt your sleep. Invest in dark curtains or a sleep mask.
3. Invest in a good mattress. Yes, this can be expensive but it is so worth it! Body pain is the number one factor in keeping you up at night.
4. Keep your bedroom cool. Ideal sleep temperature is 65-68 degrees.
