World Down Syndrome Day: Raising Awareness Through Hugs
Today is World Down Syndrome Day. This day is used to raise global awareness and give people with Down syndrome a voice. "Each year the voice of people with Down syndrome, and those who live and work with them, grows louder." We had the pleasure of getting to know a very special man who happens to have Down syndrome.
Tim Harris, the owner of the “world’s friendliest restaurant,” Tim’s Place is making the world a better place. Tim loves to interact with his customers and spread love. To do so he doles out hugs to all of his customers. His birthday actually falls on National Hug Day. Which is very fitting! Every year, Tim hosts a Hug-A-Thon in efforts to raise $10,000 for charity — adding up to over 2,000 hugs! Through the awareness of World Down Syndrome Day we hope, like Tim, everyone's voice is heard this year.
