Woman Gets Marriage Proposal From The Paramedic Who Saved Her Life
One woman's tragedy led her to a fairy tale ending. In 2012, Melissa Dohme, 20, was attacked by her ex-boyfriend. Paramedics arrived to the scene, seeing she was stabbed several times. Cameron Hill was one of the paramedics who first responded.
Melissa spent weeks in the hospital. She went on to speak publicly about her attack and surviving domestic abuse. She also went on to travel and graduate college. This fighter wasn't going to let this get her down. In fall of 2012, she was speaking at a local church. Hill, the first responder, came to see her... and they've been together ever since!
Melissa was asked to throw out the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays game to recognize her for her advocacy work. Hill was there by her side. About to throw the pitch, he handed her a ball that said “Will you marry me?" Of course she was overjoyed and said "Yes!"
“I don't even want to be upset about what happened to me because I met Cameron out of it. So I can't even look at it as anything bad anymore…My message to any woman that's in an abusive relationship is that you are not alone and there is a better life after abuse," Melissa said.
And they lived happily ever after...
