Woman Adopts Late Friend's Four Daughters
Laura Ruffino and Elizabeth Diamond have been best friends since elementary school and would do anything for each other. When Diamond found out that she had stage four brain cancer in 2014, she told her best friend that she wanted her daughters to be cared for.
“She said if anything ever happens to me I want you to take my girls and I instantly said ok,” Laura Ruffino said. “As she started to weaken you can imagine the fears that I had for the girls and being without her.”
When Diamond lost her battle to the brain cancer in April of this year, Laura and her husband Rico instantly took the girls into their families.
“Ten years ago I didn’t think this would be my life. But if something gets thrown at you just accept the challenge and do the best you can,” Rico said.
The ages of the four girls range from 5 to 12, and the girls joined the family who already had 4 members as it was.
Doubling the size of your family overnight can take a toll on financial expenses, so the family has set up a fundraising page to help them stay afloat.
