We’re Having a Baby! (The Creation Of Us – E2)

Living your life as a transgender man always has an element of breaking convention and following your own path. In this episode we hear the story of how Aydian meets and marries Jenilee, and the difficult journey they embark on when they decide to start their own family.

It all started by chance, just two people who made Youtube Videos who came across each other. Then Jenilee reached out from Florida after she had broken up with her boyfriend at around the time that Aydian happened to have just broken up with his girlfriend on Long Island. A long distance relationship of texting and skyping soon became one with regular monthly visits that bridged the gap between them.

Jenilee fondly remembers these visits as the time where their relationship bloomed. "I felt as though he was showing me the part of himself he was not yet ready to show the world. I felt like I was in on this really beautiful secret."

On one of his many Florida visits, about 11 months into their relationship, Aydian innocently asked Jenilee to come with him to the beach to watch the sunset. This turned out to be anything but an innocent request. Before she knew it, Aydian was kneeling in the sand asking her to marry him. Although totally taken by surprise, Jenilee had no hesitation saying "yes".

The couple soon married and supported each other as they both pursued their careers. Before long they were contemplating the question of starting a family. Because of the need to consider donors and insemination methods, the process was sometimes daunting. "It was really overwhelming at first", Aydian recalled, "I think having a kid is overwhelming to begin with so having to put these extra steps in feels like barriers."

Follow the couple as they face and overcome the challenges and start their next phase of life together!
