Volunteers Found Love While Helping The Sick In Africa
It takes a selfless person to dedicate their lives to helping others. Improving lives can be rewarding in itself. But what if while helping others, you found the love of your life? That's what happened for volunteers, Vanessa and Seth.
Vanessa, from Devon, UK, volunteers at a Ward Nurse aboard the Mercy Ships' Africa Mercy. This is a state of the art hospital ship with more than 450 volunteers from over 40 nations. The ship sails across Africa to deliver free medical care to those in need.
Seth, from Kansas, USA, volunteers at the HOPE Centre, a secure shelter for patients waiting for surgery or recovering.
The two do-gooders met in Texas, shared their first kiss in Haiti, had their first date in Tenerife and got engaged in Cape Town. Their love bloomed in Africa while helping people lead healthier lives.
The two plan to get married and then continue volunteering on the ship and helping people across Africa.
Vanessa states, “It still amazes me that two people from across the world can meet and fall in love. Mercy Ships bought us together and the experience we have shared together will stay with us forever. I am so excited to marry the man of my dreams and come back to the Africa Mercy – I can’t think of a better way to begin married life together!”
