Thomas Davis Wins Walter Payton NFL Man Of The Year Award For Good Deeds
Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis received the 2014 'Walter Payton Man of the Year' award at NFL Honors. Not only is he one of the best in the NFL but his work off the field makes him an incredible man. Thomas and his wife Kelly founded the Thomas Davis Defending Dreams Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing and promoting free programs that enhance the quality of life for more than 2,000 underprivileged children and their families. This foundation is so close to Thomas' heart because he knows what it is like to grow up in hard times.
As if his foundation isn't enough, Davis provides two college scholarships each year to high school seniors who have completed his Youth Leadership Academy program. Through his foundation, Davis also hosts annual programs including a Thanksgiving meal for members of a local women's shelter and a Christmas gift giveaway for underprivileged children.
His acceptance speech was emotional and touching and proves why Thomas is the best man for the award. "Let's take charge. Dare to be different," Davis said. "We are a village. Let's step up and be a village of guys that make a difference. Let's change this world.
