This Nurse Walked 2 Miles In a Blizzard To Care For Her Patients

Chantelle Diabate, a 31-year old nurse, walked nearly two miles from her home to get to her patients at the Hebrew Home, a nursing home in the Bronx. Braving the freezing temperatures and snow she knew she had to make it to work, as other people would surely not be there. Due to the bad weather, workers who live even further away wouldn't be able to make it in. Not only was Diabate the only nurse who reported to work, but she also worked a double shift, according to David Pomeranz, a director at Hebrew Home.

"At the time I just felt that I knew that nobody was really going to come in so I tried to do my best to get there," Diabate told ABC News. "At some point you’re going to have to depend on somebody. We all need each other. I treat my patients well because I treat them like family."
