This Girl Wore A Prom Dress Made Out Of Math Homework
Erinne Paisley wanted to make more than just a fashion statement this year. She went to her senior prom in a different kind of dress than everyone else. She decided not to buy a prom dress this year, but instead to make one out of her high school math homework. She wrote on the dress "I've received my education. Not everyone has that right. Malala.org" to help girls around the world have better access to education.
Not only that, but Paisley also donated the $250 that would have gone toward her prom dress to the Malala fund, an organization started by a Pakistani children's rights activist, Malala Yousafzai. Paisley is also auctioning off the dress on Go Bid and donating all the funds to the organization.
"A lot of people -- including myself -- forget about what kind of privilege we do have with our access to secondary education that we inherently have," Paisley said.
Paisley is planning on going to the University of Toronto this September to study international relations.
