This Couple Didn't Let Rain Ruin Their Wedding Day
Stephanie Pepin and Max Santiago are a couple from Brooklyn, NY, who got married on May 31st. Despite the sunny weather in the beginning of the day, clouds and rain filled the skies around 4 pm and they had to change a few plans.
Their pictures were supposed to be taken on the piers in Williamsburg, but after only a few pictures they had to move the a high-rise building balcony nearby.
Kamila Harris, the wedding photographer, was able to snap some great pictures despite the rain and commended the couple on their positivity.
"The couple dealt with it better than anyone I have ever seen deal with inclement weather," Harris said. "The bride kept saying, 'I love thunderstorms. Why is everyone freaking out, it's just rain.' And she kept a huge smile on her face throughout the mad dashes in torrential downpours. She is awesome."
When part of the wedding venue was flooded by the storm, the FDNY came to the rescue to help pump out the water as the couple held the ceremony in a different part of the venue.
Pepin explained that despite the many obstacles, their wedding day was still incredibly special.
"All we have ever wanted was to be together and married," Pepin said. "Not only did we get what we wanted, but we also got a fantastic, hilarious, unexpected adventure and story to cherish with our friends and family."
