The Real Junk Food Project Uses Leftover Food To Feed Needy
Cafes in communities near Sheffield, England are taking part in something really incredible. The Real Junk Food Project is a network of cafes that operate on a pay-as-you-feel basis. It does so by turning waste or surplus food into meals to feed the needy.
On Saturday July 4th one pop-up cafe's pay-as-you-feel event fed over 161 people... all with waste or excess food that would have otherwise been thrown out. Not only are the needy being fed but this also gives the community a chance to come together.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community. Just a few hours of time, food that would have been otherwise thrown out, and a warm smile are sometimes all we need to make someone's day.
