The Kindness of a Stranger Saved This Mom From a Nightmare Flight
This wonderful story about the kindness of strangers will soothe your anxiety about flying with young kids!
Young mom Jessica Rudeen recently boarded a flight from Kansas City to North Carolina with her 3-year-old daughter and her 4-month-old son, in the midst of a double meltdown on the part of the little ones. She made it to their row despite the kids both "losing their minds," and, she recalls, just had to hope that they didn't get kicked off the flight due to noise.
But not long after, Jessica's row was quiet and serene—all thanks to the man in the third seat. Todd Walker didn't know the Rudeen family, but he knew what it was like to fly with two small children. So he immediately offered to help.
In a Facebook post shared after she got home, Jessica described how Todd held 4-month-old Alexander while Jessica set 3-year-old Caroline up with a movie; later, Todd talked and colored with Caroline while Jessica fed Alexander.
"This guy, Todd, showed me kindness and compassion that I've never known from another person," Jessica wrote in her Facebook post.
While Jessica and Todd never exchanged last names or information, Jessica's Facebook post got shared so many times that it eventually reached Todd's wife, Stacey, who helped the two re-connect!
Says Stacey: "I think it will be a lifelong connection... They think it was for a reason — they both have faith."
