Teacher Runs 'Clothing Classroom' For Needy Families
Mrs. Susan Holloway at McKee Middle School in Bakersfield, California was broken hearted when she would see her students coming to school with old, torn clothes; or lack there of. The sixth-grade teacher noticed some of her students didn't have a winter jacket or proper attire for the seasons. It was taking away from their ability to perform in the classroom. She started taking donations of clothes for her students. After 3 years and countless donations from the community she opened a clothing bank inside an old classroom which now benefits the entire community. The giving teacher has donated hours upon hours of her time and resources to help more than 10,000 students and their families across the district.
