Teacher Donates Kidney To 6-Year-Old Student
Matthew Parker was born with bad kidneys. The 6-year-old has already received one kidney transplant. But after his body failed to respond to treatment he was put on a wait list for another. Matthew goes to school part-time to accommodate the four-hour long dialysis appointments that have been keeping him alive. His first grade teacher, Lindsey Painter, of the Hoffmann Lane Elementary in New Braunfels, Texas became his life saver. She stepped in an offered one of her kidneys. Having kids of her own she can't "imagine having a child who is going through what Matt has gone through.” Thanks to her selfless efforts, Matthew will undergo his second transplant next month. Talk about a teacher going above and beyond their duties, this woman's an angel!
