Teacher Allows Student To Shave Her Head So He Won't Feel Alone
Tori Nelson is a 4th grade teacher in Washington who will do whatever it takes to let her students know she cares for them. When one of her students, 9-year-old Matthew Finney, was being teased for a new hair cut, she went above and beyond to help him feel better.
Matthew had been teased by other kids about a bald spot on his head caused by an old scar. When Nelson found Matthew crying outside the classroom door, she came up with an unconventional idea to help him feel better.
"What if I let you cut my hair, and then we'll be twins, and then if he makes fun of you again, then he's making fun of me?" Nelson asked him.
During recess a crowd gathered on the playground as Matthew took the clippers and cut his teachers hair.
"Honestly, I could care less about hair," Nelson said. "I have pretty short hair. So to me its just hair. If I can get rid of some hair to make this kid feel better, well, that's an easy fix."
