Stuart Scott Lives On Through His Unforgettable ESPYS Speech
Today we are saddened by the passing of Stuart Scott. He had been battling cancer since 2007. There are tributes all over the internet remembering the loved 20-year sportscaster for ESPN. But the most moving piece, is his acceptance speech at the ESPYS last year. Just one week prior to the show, he was in the hospital for seven days. It was undecided if he would make it to the award show to accept the Jimmy V Perseverance Award. But it is no surprise that Scott prevailed and didn't give in to his illness. He was at the award show with the most positive outlook on life I have ever witnessed. In his speech he talks about his journey with cancer. This is one of the most inspiring, thought provoking speech I've ever heard. He teaches us to fight for our lives and to never give up. “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer,” Scott told the audience. “You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.” We will always remember Scott by his words and passion for life. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family, friends and anyone ever touched by this man's life.
