Star Wars Fan in Need of Heart Transplant Gets The Most Amazing Surprise
With a roar from Chewbacca, a young boy found out that his life was saved.
Austin Eggleston is 15 years old, and has been on the waiting list for a heart transplant for five months. When he was first placed on the list, his doctor made a special deal with his young patient, who is also a die-hard Star Wars fan. Dr. Phillip Thrush at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago promised that when Austin was matched with a heart donor, Dr. Thrush would don a head-to-toe Chewbacca costume to make the announcement.
As you can see in this inspiring video, the idea totally worked. Austin knew he was going to get good news as soon as Dr. Thrush appeared.
Austin's family has expressed their overwhelming gratitude for the hospital, the doctor, and of course, for the donor.
"To see him knowing that he has a chance at life, that he has a chance to achieve so many things, leaves you speechless," said Austin's mom, Mary Anglin. And as for Austin's future? "He will make sure that he does remarkable things because of it," Anglin promised.
