"Slice Out Hunger" Pizza Party Feeds The Hungry
In honor of National Pizza Week, we bring you Slice Out Hunger. Pizza lovers wait for hours in line to get up close and personal with more than 60 pizzerias from New York City! At it's most recent event, Slice Out Hunger had more than 1,250 pizza pies and raised more than $50,000 for the Food Bank For New York City. That's 175,000 meals for the hungry across all five boroughs. As if pizza could get any better- now it's helping end hunger!
Scott Wiener started Slice Out Hunger just by charging his friends for the pizza he got donated. He thought it would be cool to donate his friend money to the community. But he thought it was a good idea to help the community and, seriously, who doesn't like pizza? The next thing he knew it expanded into a huge event!
"More and more New Yorkers are looking to get involved in their communities and this event is a great way to do that!"
