New York City’s Biggest Pizza Party Helps Feed The Hungry

In honor of National Pizza Party Day, we are sharing a story about an innovative charitable cause, Slice Out Hunger.

Pizza lovers wait for hours in line to get up close and personal with more than 60 pizzerias from New York City! At it's most recent event, Slice Out Hunger had more than 1,250 pizza pies and raised more than $50,000 for the Food Bank For New York City.

Scott Wiener started Slice Out Hunger just by charging his friends a dollar a slice for pizzas he got donated. He thought it would be cool to make a contribution to the community and fight hunger while creating a fun event. After all who doesn't like pizza? The next thing he knew, he had an expansive NYC happening on his hands!

"We are going to be able to feed 150,000 people because of this event," Scott noted. As if pizza could get any better, now it's helping end hunger!

Watch and see how a bunch of New Yorkers got together to support their communities and help needy families across the five boroughs.

Their research focused on canine assistance for PTSD. Ultimately, they started a non-profit organization. K9s For Warriors, dedicated to providing service dogs to warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of their military service (post 9/11).

At 2 1/2 years old, Shaina Schwartz and her Mom went to see the Nutcracker. Even though this was the first time she had ever seen any kind of a dance performance, as soon as it was over she excitedly said, "Mommy, that's what I want to do!"

Her long road toward becoming a dancer and then an owner and founder of a dance company had its share of ups and downs. Shaina started taking ballet lessons at a professional studio in New Hampshire at 5 years old and in her younger years, the regimen and regularity of the training was a good fit for her serious nature.
