Second Grader Cures Loneliness With 'Buddy Bench'
Get ready to have your faith in humanity SKY ROCKET into the clouds because this is the darndest, most adorablest thing I've ever heard of. Ever.
Second grader, Christian Bucks of York, PA notices some of his buds were feeling lonely on the playground. SO, like any normal angel in child-form would do, he decided to alleviate that sadness by installing a "Buddy Bench," a safe space where kids can go and hang out together when they need a friend.
Apparently, Buddy Benches are an actual thing, that even have their own fancy PDF file explaining why they exist (though the reason is obvious) and how they work-seemingly obvious but as evidenced by said PDF file, their operation is somewhat complex. What isn't totally obvious about these things is that they're not only for kids to chat over a dunkaroos (#tbt!) and discuss local politics. The benches also offer the little chillins' to talk about concerns or issues that they might feel nervous about bringing up.
Other reports say that camaraderie and peer support are the best ways to prevent and alleviate bullying, so basically these benches are the simplest, greatest ideas since white boards (bye forever chalk dust, lol).
