Rescued Kangaroo Enjoys Farm Life With His Dog Siblings
Family isn't always defined by DNA. A family can be made up of any people or animals that care about each other. The Stewart family, from western Australia, opened their home to an orphaned kangaroo named Dusty. The farming family rescued the joey after his mother was killed in a car accident.
They weren't sure how he would like life on the farm with their two dogs... but he sure does. From the moment they brought Dusty home, their golden retriever and border collie loved him. They roam the farm, play and sleep on the porch together. “He lives on the back patio,” Ashley Stewart told ABC Rural. “We’ve actually had to go and buy a third dog bed for him to sleep in because he used to pinch one of the beds from the dogs.”
Dusty loves being 'one of the dogs.' He even thinks the retriever is his mom; always cuddling her and grooming her. He thinks he's a dog so much so that even when he sees other kangaroos out in the fields, he pays them no mind. He's happy right where he is; with his family on the farm!
