Prom Prep With Patients and Popstar – Caly On the Good (E11)

Young women living through the hospitalization and treatment of cancer need strength, positivity and a role model they can look up to that projects the hope that is critical to their recovery. In this heart-warming episode of Caly On The Good, Caly visits the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to be there for a group of young patients that are striving to rise up from the daily battle with their disease to enjoy some happy, normal teenage moments.

MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital hosts a prom for their teen patients that are not able to attend school and participate in regular activities. To enrich this experience, they have gathered a group of volunteers from the beauty and style world so these kids can be fussed over and pampered while they prepare for their big night.

Watch as Caly visits with the prom attendees as they select accessories and get hair, makeup and nails done by beauty industry professionals. By spending a few moments hearing about their stories and sharing her experiences, Caly brings some joy and hope that they too can survive and thrive one day.

Skyler is a patient who remembered seeing a video of Caly singing right after she was diagnosed. "It was such an inspiration and kept me going," she recalled. "A saying I have if my friends are down is that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. No matter how dim it is, you have to look for it, and always look for the positives over the negatives."

Days like this where Caly can bring some light and hope to fellow cancer patients also empowers her. While she inspires them, they compel her to move forward and keep her head held high for her forever community.
