Principal Buys Shoes For All The Students In Her School
Nissa Ellett, principal of a school in Harrison County, Indiana took it upon herself to help the children in her school. 75 percent of students live below the poverty line which makes it difficult for them to have decent shoes and clothes. When she realized just how much they were struggling, like having to tape their shoes together, she knew she had to do something. She held a fundraiser asking the community for donations. She had a goal of $6,000 but in no time at all she had raised $17,000 for her students. Money and support poured in and she was able to buy each student shoes, winter boots, gloves and hats. Nissa doesn't want praise, she is just hoping her story will raise awareness on poverty and prompt other people to help where they can.
