Prince Harry Surprises Double Amputee Veteran at Charity Run
After finishing a 31 mile run through London on Tuesday this double amputee got a royal surprise! Prince Harry was waiting at the finish line to support his old friend.
Ben McBean, former British Royal Marine, and the prince became close on their flight back from Afghanistan in 2008. Prince Harry congratulated his old pal at the finish line for participating in the event and helping to raise awareness for the cause. The Poppy Appeal held the race, an organization which raises money for veterans and their families, helps veterans find employment, and helps them cope with their disabilities.
McBean kept with the theme of the organization and used a smartphone app to plot a trail around London in the shape of a poppy, paying homage to flowers that grew on the World War I battlefields.
