Photographer Makes Struggling Moms-To-Be Feel Beautiful
Pregnancy is a beautiful, magical time. But it can also be very challenging. From hormones to weight gain, moms-to-be can be left feeling less than attractive. For women who are going through hardships, such as homelessness or abuse, this time can be even more difficult. But no matter their situation, every woman should have a chance to feel beautiful. Most women like to have pregnancy pictures taken so they have a keepsake. But for struggling women, those might not be possible.
Maternity photographer, Keri Vaca, wants all women to feel beautiful during pregnancy. She wants them to have something they can look back on and remember this magical time. She brought her camera to the Homeless Prenatal Program in San Francisco to take pictures free of charge.
"For many of the women we work with, pregnancy can be a wonderful time but also a very difficult and challenging time," she says. "But getting the prenatal photos taken and seeing how they look in the pictures has been an incredibly positive experience for the women."
The pregnant women in this program have gone through so many hard times. But Keri wants to make them forget about all that for a bit. They are able to pick out maternity clothes, get dolled up and be in the spotlight of the camera. This allows them to have a positive, happy memory of their pregnancy; which all moms should have.
