'Payless' Donates Shoes To Homeless Children
As summer draws near many people go out and buy new clothing and shoes for the season. However, some are not as fortunate and cannot afford new shoes that are so desperately needed.
A Payless shoe store in Omaha, NE gave 50 children who lived at the Open Door Mission's Lydia House free reign of the store to pick out a new pair of shoes. This was the eighth year that Payless has donated to the Lydia House and the number of donations have increased every year.
“Look at them, they are so happy,” said Candace Gregory, president and CEO of the Open Door Mission. “Our children may be homeless, but they are normal children. They are excited because it feels good to get a new pair of shoes.”
The Payless staff helped children try on shoes, fitting them for the best shoes for the upcoming summer.
