Parents Get Tattoo To Match Daughter's Birthmark
Tanya and Adam Phillips did something unusual for their daughter and it's making my heart melt. The 1.5- year- old was born with a strawberry birthmark covering a good portion of her body. In order to make their daughter feel less different they got tattoos matching her birthmark. The painful and unattractive markings are their way of showing their daughter that her birthmark is not weird or different. It was one incident at a grocery store that gave Tanya the push to do something drastic. She said: "I was stood at a check out till, when I saw an old couple whispering and staring at Honey-Rae’s leg. I was distraught. It was first time I had taken her out without covering her up and it confirmed all my worries and fears. People are cruel without even realizing. And I knew if adults could be that insensitive, then kids at school would also be unintentionally mean."
These loving parents don't regret their choice. It may seem drastic but it's worth their daughter's happiness. "She now constantly touches mine and Adam’s tattoos then her own birthmark and giggles – I couldn’t be happier," says Tanya. Good for you!
