Nick LaCava began rowing at the Saugatuck Rowing Club in his hometown of Weston, Conn., in 2000. Since he graduated from Columbia University in 2009, he has gradually improved his results. On his first national team in 2009, he finished 12th in the lightweight four at the World Rowing Championships. On the lightweight four in 2010, he finished 13th at the World Rowing Cup and tenth at the World Rowing Championships. Joining the lightweight eight at the 2011 World Rowing Championships, he placed fifth. He won that event at the Head of the Charles Regatta that year. In 2012, LaCava was a member of the lightweight four that won the 2012 Final Olympic Qualification Regatta. With his crew based in Oklahoma City, also consisting of Robin Prendes, Will Newell, and Anthony Fahden, he will row in that event at the London Games.
