If You Love Jack-o-Lanterns, You've GOT To See This!

Communities come together in many different ways, and regardless of their central purpose, they are SO important. The feeling of belonging to something larger than yourself—whether it's your town, your book club, a pick-up team, or an online group—reminds you that you are connected to other people, and that your efforts and contributions matter.

Building a sense of community is the goal that inspired one organizer in Keene, New Hampshire to rally her town around a big-time Halloween mission: to set a world record for the most carved jack-o-lanterns in one place!

"Trying to attempt to break a Guinness Book of World Records means that we can say to our community: you matter, we need your pumpkin, please come, please carve! In life, everyone wants to be needed," she says.

In honor of National Pumpkin Day, we wanted to share this heartwarming video as a reminder of how even silly holidays can bring people together. Watch to the end to see how excited the community is when their jack-o-lantern total (30,581!!) is announced—and also to see the awesome view of all of the pumpkins lit up!

If you weren't in the Halloween spirit before, we bet you are now. Happy carving!
