Mother Hears Son Speak For The First Time
Due to a genetic condition, 43-year-old Dawn Keim began losing her hearing fifteen years ago. Family members in the video said they knew it was bad when Keim would walk away while someone was talking to her. The mother of two feared she would never hear the sound of her youngest son's voice.
According to Huffington Post Good News, the day-time talk show, The Doctors, granted Keim with the opportunity to regain her hearing through a cochlear implant--a breakthrough surgery that brought hearing back for a deaf 8-month-old, Jonothan Breaux. After the procedure, Keim's 8-year-old son, Asher surprised her by calling out to her during a filmed interview. The interaction between the mother and son is moving to say the least. "I'm just really excited that she can finally hear," Asher Keim, 8, said before revealing his voice to his mother.
"It's overwhelming and far better than I expected it to be," Keim said in a later interview. "I was so fearful of what I was going to hear and what it was going to sound like."
"I'm still overwhelmed," she added.
