Miniature Horses Are New Type Of Therapy Animal

We have all heard of therapy animals such as dogs or bunnies; but what about horses? This new kind of therapy animal brings magic to whoever it visits. Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity.

The team of tiny horses visits over 45,000 adults and children each year inside hospitals, hospice programs, police stations and fire stations. They also visit with children who have experienced traumatic events.

"We work with the families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and especially their children." says Jennifer Paldino, a volunteer with the organization. From the students and first responders of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, to the tornado survivors of Moore, OK, child trafficking victims in Washington D.C., and even children living in orphanages in Greece, these tiny horses bring their special love where it is needed most.

This program has been around for twenty years and started out helping at risk children with behavioral issues. One day there was a special request where the team flew out to New York to visit a woman whose last wish was to have a horse visit her in her hospital room. Life changing moments like this continue to drive this charity's purpose and validate what an unforgettable experience it can be to be comforted by a therapy horse.

Gentle Carousel's award winning literacy program, Reading Is Magic, also brings real horses inside schools, at risk youth programs and libraries to inspire young readers and "bring books to life". These 'tiny' heroes are bringing HUGE love to the world!

Hurt Dog Inspires Hollywood Film ‘Miracle Marshall’

Marshall was abandoned, abused and starving. He was among 60 other dogs living on a property without food, water and shelter.

During the time of his rescue by Animal Planet's Confessions, he had a badly broken front leg, bite marks all over his body and a tennis ball sized hole in the side of his face. The Humane Society of Missouri came to the dogs rescue, however Marshall's injuries were so serious they required surgery before he could be put up for adoption. On the operating table, Marshall passed away...but was resuscitated and the medical team was able to repair his face and amputate his infected leg.
